History of the laboratory
In 2013, within the framework of the 305th State Program, the Uzbek-Chinese “Center for Scientific and Technical Cooperation” was created at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics named after Kh.M. Abdullayev and the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
The goal of cooperation
The goal of cooperation is to increase the level of geological knowledge of the Tien Shan mining zone on the basis of joint scientific research in structural and mineral geology, mineral forecasting and the development of new methods for searching for mineral deposits in the region.
On October 8, 2019, a Framework Agreement was signed on the proposed project “Creation of a Chinese-Uzbek joint laboratory for the exploration and development of mineral resources” between the Research Center for Natural Resources and Environmental Environment of the XUAR of the People’s Republic of China and the Institute of Geology and Geophysics named after. Kh.M. Abdullaev State Committee for Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
- within the framework of the agreement, the Chinese side provides equipment, facilities and technologies; The Uzbek side will provide premises, professional and technical personnel and infrastructure for the creation of a joint laboratory for the exploration and development of mineral resources in China and Uzbekistan.
- relying on the Chinese-Uzbek joint laboratory for the exploration and development of mineral resources, the parties will conduct research on hard-to-extract minerals, environmentally friendly and highly efficient technologies for integrated use, carry out work on comprehensive technological mineralogy services and experiments on the enrichment process.
- the project provides for the exchange of specialists and professional technical training
On January 7, 2023, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics named after Kh.M. Abdullayev and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the PRC Academy of Sciences reached an agreement on the creation of a joint “Chinese-Uzbek laboratory for exploration and development of mineral resources” at the institute.
At the first stage, April 16-24, 2024, the following analytical equipment was supplied and installed
- 2 atomic absorption spectrometers;
- 1 atomic fluorescence spectrometer;
- 1 optical emission spectrometer ICP OES;
- 1 gamma spectrometer;
- sulfur analyzer, carbon analyzer;
- 2 Olimpus microscopes;
- equipment for preparing thin sections;
- crushing equipment;
At the next stage, the first studies were carried out on the installed equipment.
Collaborative Research
- implementation of new fundamental projects;
- conducting research on the opening of mines;
- projects to develop new methods for searching and exploring mineral deposits in the region;
- exchange of specialists and internships.
